Time to Update Your iOS App - Apple Rejects UDID & Non-Retina Supported Apps on May 1st
Starting May 1st, Apple has announced that it will no longer be accepting applications that are using UDID as your unique identifier for users. UDID has been a huge part of the application developers resource tool belt in the past in helping to understand the use data of a specific application user, and plan their marketing accordingly.

After Apple's recent congressional hearings in regards to Apple's use of UDID, and the privacy implications involved, the company started in 2011 telling developers that they need to move away from using the data. The company has since released their iOS Advertising Identifier, which is not a personal identifier, to help developers with this issue.

Along with the new UDID requirements, Apple is also going to be requiring all applications after May 1st to support Retina Display capabilities for approval into the app store. This is a big move for Apple in it's strategy to completely move away from any non-retina display hardware in the future.

To learn more about the new requirements, please refer to Apple's UIDevice Class Reference and the iOS Human Interface Guidelines.
