Enter App Store intelligence. The first major aspect of good app store intelligence is to understand what your application is doing.
There are the obvious metrics that everyone needs to keep track of including: Downloads, Revenue, Rankings, Reviews, etc. These are all the data points that will show you whether or not you have created a successful app, and a great indication of the hard work you have put into your system. Now it’s time to dive deeper to ensure you keep your app on the top of the download lists and understand how to market yourself appropriately.
Metrics that help you understand how, where and why users are downloading your app are probably the most important pieces of data for your future growth arsenal. This is the information that will show you where you need to continue investing your money and pushing marketing efforts to create the greatest ROI and expanded reach.
It will also show you where you may be running into waste. You may also use this data to uncover a few gems in your marketing tools, and discover how to bring different campaigns together for greater traction. When it comes to growth, measuring your traffic funnels should be your very best friend.
Last, but most definitely not least is competitor analysis. Being on top of what your real and potential competitors are doing. This is probably one of the most overlooked, yet detrimental piece of information that any company, in any industry has available.
Your competition can give you great insights into the future of your vertical, ideas for greater development and understanding into what users are looking for. By not having a great grasp of what the other players in your space are doing, you are effectively writing the death sentence of your organization. If you are a successful app, somebody will eventually copy you. If you don’t keep up with what they are doing, they then will eventually beat you.
