With online video ad revenue to reach $4 billion in 2015 and mobile video advertising projected to grow almost five times faster than desktop, we've adopted the Digital Video Ad Serving Template (VAST) standard for mobile to enable video advertising for all supporting Smaato partners! Here's what you need to know:


Why Video Advertising is a good idea:

Video advertising holds advantages for all parties involved in mobile advertising: mobile app developers and publishers can benefit from the high eCPMs on video ads, and advertisers get the most valuable stage to present themselves to their target audience.

Features & Advantages of VAST:

In addition to being a popular and widely established format - thus having a large amount of available ads and campaigns already in existence -, VAST offers useful features to publishers and advertisers alike.

VAST is a standard XML-based ad response for in-stream video as well as an XML Schema Definition (“XSD”) for developers and was developed by the IAB. In addition to making third party video ad serving scalable, VAST offers lots of additional functionality, such as choosing the mode of display (pre/post-roll or overlay), Clickthrough and Tracking URLs, and if the ad should be skippable or not (SDK only).

How to get started with VAST:

Upgrade to our latest SDKs - you'll be able to set up VAST adspaces on your iOS and Android apps easily! Only a few lines of code are necessary. Also, the Android and iOS SDKs will come with an embedded VAST video player for hassle-free setup.

Or upgrade to our latest API and start requesting VAST video ads (Please note: you'll need to provide a VAST-compatible video player supporting MP4 and 3GP video files.)
