Smaato Closes a $25 Million Funding Round
Smaato, the leading independent global mobile RTB ad exchange and SSP has received a seal of approval from one of Asia’s biggest media companies, the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) group. SPH has joined as a strategic investor in Smaato’s latest funding round along with Aeris Capital, EDBI and other existing shareholders. SPH publishes more than 100 magazine titles in Singapore and the region with revenues of revenues of US$ 991m (S$ 1,239m) in 2013.


SPH will leverage Smaato’s programmatic technology to automate its direct sales relationships with premium brand advertisers through a custom Private Exchange. Smaato will use the funding to continue development of its mobile ad exchange and ad serving platform. The Smaato owned-and-operated RTB exchange has recently been extended to include the brand new Smaato Publisher Platform (SPP). SPP is an infinite scale, enterprise grade hosted publisher ad server built from the ground up for a mobile-first world. It features the first ever Dynamic Demand mobile ad serving engine, a suite of direct, programmatic, and indirect buying models, near real-time floor price management, powerful reporting, and single point access to Smaato’s extensive integrated global demand.


Smaato also recently announced a partnership with Indosat - the second largest Indonesian wireless carrier. Indosat will leverage Smaato technology in order to jointly offer mobile advertising opportunities through hyper-local advertising and an integrated private exchange.
